Exeter Chiefs Supporters’ Club AGM – 17th October 2019
Chairman’s Report 2018/19
Another great year for Exeter Chiefs, sadly falling agonisingly short at the last hurdle. But topping the Premiership table for the second year running, and reaching the Premiership Final for the fourth consecutive year is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and staff of Exeter Chiefs. It is a real privilege to be a supporter of this club.
It has been another good year off the field. We have held a variety of events, many returning by popular request.
November - 70+ at the ever popular Quiz at the Swans Nest, Exminster, Quiz Master Paul Curgenven.
January - Enjoyable evening’s Wine tasting at Majestic Wines Marsh Barton arranged by Alexis Saffin.
February - Another great Quiz Night at the Swans Nest, Quiz Master Paul Curgenven.
March - For the fourth year, informal Fine Dining prepared by the students at Exeter College. Due to popular demand nearly 100 members dined over two consecutive nights- arranged by Richard Cresswell.
May - Treasure Hunt and very pleasant evening stroll round Dawlish - arranged by Mike Gard.
June - Midsummer Night’s Cruise on the River Exe, plus BBQ on board - arranged by Stuart Kennedy.
August - Annual Golf Day, Woodbury Park. Very wet, but still successfully raising a great deal of money for the Supporters’ Club cause. Thanks once again to David Brown and all his assistants.
September - Excellent Cidery trip round Sandford Orchards, Crediton, arranged by Alexis Saffin.
Huge thank-you to the committee who work hard to put these events on and to all members who support them so generously.
The above events, together with raffles on the away coaches, and subscriptions raise money that we use to support youth and development rugby throughout the South West and to promote rugby friendship. From the information in this report, we hope you agree that the money is being spent wisely.
Over the past year, we donated £1,600 to support Exeter College Chiefs U18's Academy who represented England Schools and Colleges at the prestigious ‘Sanix World Youth Invitational U18 Rugby Tournament’ in Japan. We also donated £800 to the Exeter Women’s Academy to support their trip to Toronto.
Small Grants Scheme
From its inception in 2017/18, we have had 22 grant applications, 20 of which were successful, with a total of £7,900 donated to local youth sections.

Our hospitality at home and our travelling Tribe reputation remains second to none, both in the UK and abroad. Coordination is key and Andrew Mason has masterminded our European adventures through Smokey Signals, negotiating discounts for ECSC members at various ‘HQ’ hostelries.
mber of pubs, restaurants and shops thanks to Nat Coles
Special thanks to Geri Holman who is retiring as Membership Secretary after 3 years and to Andrew Mason who is handing over the role of European Co-ordinator to Alexis Saffin. Their hard work has been greatly appreciated.
We will continue to put on a range of events which we hope you enjoy; if you have any ideas of new events, please let us know. That way, we can continue to raise funds to support youth and community rugby, and to promote rugby friendship.
If any members are interested in joining the Committee, or helping out at one of our events, please contact me or any one of the committee for more information. You will be made very welcome.
At the AGM , it was noted that Andrew Mason was standing down as European Coordinator and from the Committee, and that Geri Holman was standing down as Membership Secretary but would be staying on the Committee. Both were roundly thanked for their service to the Supporters Club and Chiefs supporters generally. Alexis Saffin is taking over as European Co-Ordinator and Vikki Corrick as Membership Secretary.
Four new members of the Committee were approved; Natalie Coles, Vikki Corrick, Rob Friend, Laura Truscott . All other Committee members were re-elected. For a full list of the Committee, see Contents section of this web site.
